Karti Briefs Malaysian Leadership on Developments in the Country PDF Print E-mail

Sudan vision- Khartoum – Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, delivered yesterday a message from President Al Bashir to Prime Minister of Malaysia dealing with cooperation between the two countries in the political, oil and investment areas.

During the meeting, Karti briefed the Prime Minister on political situation in the Sudan in general and in Darfur in particular with a focus on the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, North-South relations and obstacles hindering conclusion of oil deal.He told Malaysian officials that Sudan was keen to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiations.The two sides also discussed situations in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination at the level of joint working groups represented in the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM), Group of 77, Islamic Cooperation Organization and others. Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister and the accompanying delegation met with the chairman of Board of Directors of PETRONAS. The meetings focused on obstacles which hinder the work of the company especially in South Sudan.The chairman expressed keenness of PETRONAS to increase oil and mining investments in the Sudan.Bilateral talks between the foreign ministries in the two countries will begin Wednesday to discuss a range of issues including the need to develop relations in various domains.
