| Amira Al-Fadil Calls for Arab Strategy to Protect Society from Violence |

Sudan vision - Khartoum – Minister of Welfare and Social Security, Ms Amira Al-Fadil, affirmed Monday state concern with combating domestic violence and stressed the importance of including necessary legislations in the constitution and national policy, calling for an Arab strategy to that end. Addressing the opening session of a conference on domestic violence and its impact on the Arab society, the Minister emphasized the need for support of technical, research and academic bodies to the official efforts to combat domestic violence.On the insurgency, the Minister called on the rebel movements to join the peace process in order to achieve social and economic security, characterizing Sudan as the best in the Arab world and the west in terms of domestic violence. For his part, Chairman of the Arab Scientific Research Union, Prof. Mubarak Mohamed Ali Magzoub, indicated that confronting the phenomenon of domestic violence requires enactment of legislations and laws as well as the improvement of living and economic conditions of the Arab societies. He underlined the need for the conference to come up with viable recommendations as well as devising policies and strategies required for addressing the phenomenon.Prof. Al-Tayeb Idriss, Director of Sudan Academy for Science, indicated the rising cases of domestic violence in the Arab world, stressing the importance of consolidation of official and popular efforts to protect the society from breakup.The Director has also called for adherence to the values of Islam and its teachings and the good Arab customs in order to protect the society and to ensure its stability. |
