Government Hints at Taking Measures against Organizations in Eastern Sudan PDF Print E-mail

Sudan vision - The government has threatened to take decisive measures against some humanitarian agencies operating in eastern Sudan if proved to be not committed to their humanitarian mandates.


Presidential Advisor Mustafa Osman Ismail told Sudanese Media Center that issue provoked about what some organization called that the situation in east Sudan was about to “explode” regarding humanitarian aspect is completely untrue. Osman stated that fabricating such information and publicizing it in foreign media questions the credibility professionalism of the organization or the party made such allegations. He indicated that the humanitarian situation in eastern Sudan in general is seeing remarkable stability in all political and economic fields and that the Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement is going down well. “It suffices that it is the sole agreement after which no bullet has been shot in the east,” he added. Ismail said that eastern Sudan is promised with huge Arab and non-Arab investments as most of states, participating in the donors’ conference in Kuwait in collaboration with East Sudan Development and Support Fund, demonstrated their commitment. He affirmed that the government will not be lax in taking any tough measures against any organization operating in eastern Sudan or any other part of the country if proved to be involved in disseminating false information to create tension among the public opinion against the country. “We are completely confident in the awareness of the people of the East and their being mindful of all threats and conspiracies facing the country,” Ismail said.
