Armed Forces prepare solutions to release 58 of UNAMID troops PDF Print E-mail

Khartoum, Feb. 20 (SUNA) The Spokesman of the Armed Forces Col. Al Swarmi Khalid Saad pointed out that a group of the rebels of the Movement of Equality and Justice (MEJ) has detained 58 of the UNAMID troops, 55 of them are Senegalese , and 3 from the civil police from Yemen, Rwanda and Ghana .

The Spokesman of the Armed Forces added in statement to SUNA that the group affiliated to the UNAMID forces moved in eight armored Land Cruiser vehicle and were intercepted by the rebels group in an attempt to loot their weapons.
Al Sawarmi referred to the quick response of the Armed Forces after indentifying the detainees location, in the area of Shagaig Kar.He pointed out that the Armed Forces did not carry out any military operations in order to maintain the lives of the detainees, he added in his statement to SUNA that the UNAMID headquarter has called on the armed forces for help to release its detained soldiers.Al Sawarmi explained that the Armed Forces has prepared solutions for the release of the detainees through the formation of a follow-up committee in Al Fashir , the capital of the state of North Darfur, for the release of the detainees, he added that the armed forces will clarify details and developments of the incident later.
